Confort : Old Red Lion Hotel dates back to it's 18th Century days and was originally an old farm house. The lodges offer comfortable accommodation in a charming setting. There are 12 comfortably furnished, en-suite bedrooms, including ground floor rooms some with disabled facilities. They are all situated in attractive buildings around the main building & restaurant, allowing for a more tranquil stay. The bar area has been recently refurbished, providing comfort seating area including leather settees & high butchers block tables to look out of the windows across the fields. We have a good village pub atmosphere here and have live entertainment on a regular basis. A good selection of wines, spirits & cask conditions beers are available. A bar menu is available at lunch time 12 -2.30 & 6 - 9pm. Our restaurant is open from 6pm until 9pm Monday - Saturday evenings. Boasting a Yorkshire stoned floor & period designed restaurant where our brand new menu is available Monday - Saturday evening. Our Sunday Carvery is always very popular and a reservation is essential. All of our produce is sourced from local suppliers. We close on Sundays at 5pm after the carvery has finished. Therefore, anyone checking in on Sunday evening after 5pm will have the booking in procedure available to them on arrival. Horseheath is close to the historic market town of Saffron Walden. Audley End House and Linton Zoo are also nearby. The university town of Cambridge is a 20 minute drive to the north. To the east lie the pretty Suffolk villages of Clare and Long Melford. Bury St Edmonds, with it's beautiful abby ruins and gardens, is a short drive away. We are also a 20 minutes drive from Newmarket the capital of Horse Racing in the UK. Tattersals Horse sales is also an attraction throughout the year with Sales Dates available from Tattersals direct.
Equipements : Our hotel offers a more personnel service in a small country Village. We pride ourselves in offering a friendly and helpful service to all of our guests to ensure that their stay here with us is enjoyable. Our bar area offers a village atmosphere where we regularly have live bands & entertainment. We have a bar menu available from 12pm - 2.30pm & 6p - 9pm Monday - Friday & all day Saturday. We have a separate Resturant that seats approximately 50 people & has a partially yorkshire stoned floor, log burner for those colder evenings offering a cosy atmosphere & wooden floored area. We offer an excellent menu 6 nights a week where all of the produce is sourced from local suppliers & cooked to order. We pride ourselves in offering excellent quality & value for money on both of our menus available daily. We regularly hold weddings, christening and private parties here also as it is a small restaurant able to offer a very personnel service to those smaller events. Check in is from 2pm - 10pm daily and you go into the main bar area where one of the staff will be more than happy to assist you & offer you any help & advice that may make your stay here with us more comfortable.
